About Vinyl Itch
What is Vinyl Itch?
Vinyl Itch is a price comparison tool for vinyl records. We track prices across major retailers like Amazon, Target, Barnes & Noble, and Walmart, as well as dozens of independent record stores and labels. Our goal is to help you find the best deal on the records you want, whether you're looking for a common repress or a limited colored pressing.
How We Track Prices
We automatically check retailer websites daily to capture current prices, stock status, and new listings. When a product's price changes, we record the change so you can see the full price history for any release. This lets you spot deals, track trends, and decide the right time to buy.
Our Data Sources
We use the Discogs catalog as our master database of vinyl releases. Discogs is the largest music database in the world, with detailed information on millions of releases including pressings, labels, catalog numbers, and barcodes. We match products from retailers to the correct Discogs release using UPC barcodes, catalog numbers, and title matching, so different pressings of the same album are correctly grouped for comparison.
About the Project
Vinyl Itch was built by a vinyl collector who got tired of checking multiple websites to find the best price. The project covers over 200,000 vinyl releases from 60+ retailers, updated daily. We're constantly adding new stores and improving our matching accuracy.
